Bennekerry National School was the venue for the county’s 2017 final. We had a great turnout of 13 magnificent spellers who were all eager to claim this year’s Carlow county crown.

After some amazing spelling, it was Adam Johnston from Borris Mixed National School in Borris who beat out the competition to be named our Carlow champion. Adam will now go on to represent his county in the Leinster final in June.

Wexford

The Spelling Bee Team travelled to Bunscoil Loreto to crown this year’s Wexford Spelling Bee champion. It was our biggest competition to date this year with 42 competitors, each one accompanied by their magnificent fans.

The audience were treated to some excellent spelling and in the end, it was the host schools own Ashley Bolton who managed to take this year’s Wexford crown. Ashley will now go on to represent Wexford in the Leinster final.

Waterford

The Spelling Bee Team received a very warm welcome to St. Ursula’s Primary School, the host school for our Waterford County final. The staff and pupils were extremely helpful and made all 19 spellers feel at home. The hall was also magnificently decorated for the occasion and a lot of work was put in the whole school, it set the mood for the competition.

When the action began, the fans were treated to a master-class in spelling, we did witness some magnificent efforts. In the end, it was Riham Saeed from St. John of God NS, Passage Road who came out on top to claim the title of Waterford county champion 2017. Riham will now go on to represent her county in the Munster final.

Tipperary

St. John the Baptist BNS, Cashel was the venue for our Tipperary final. The competition proved to be as impressive as expected with a whopping 36 spellers taking part. Each brought a crowd of fans with them who were treated to multiple rounds of top class Spelling.
