The Spelling Bee Team were delighted to head up North again this past week to continue the final leg of this year’s competition. This week we were happy to welcome along Rebecca McKinney and her team from Cool FM.

Scoil Phadraig, Corracrin was the venue for the county’s 2017 final. We had a great turnout of 16 magnificent spellers who were all eager to claim this year’s Monaghan county crown.

After some amazing spelling, it was Grace Hanratty from Scoil na gCailini, Castleblaney who beat out the competition to be named our Monaghan champion. Grace will now go on to represent her county in the Ulster final in June.

The Spelling Bee Team were delighted to be back in Antrim for this year’s county final. We hosted 23 spellers in Templepatrick Primary School who treated the eager audience to a Spelling Masterclass.

All of our spellers were brilliant, but in the end, it was Lois Angell from Groggan Primary School, Randalstown who beat out the competition to be crowned our Antrim champion. Lois will know go on to represent Antrim in the Ulster final. We would also like to give a huge thank you to our local Belfast trainee manager Susan Kelly who came on the day to support the local competition.
