As St. Patrick’s Day drew close our Spelling Bee Team made their way to the south west of the country to see what the competition was like in Munster. The team visited Kerry, Cork and Tipperary to see who would be the champion speller of each county.  The team were really looking forward to seeing what was in store for them in these three competitions.  Check out all the details from their fourth week below and find out which of our super spellers were crowned Kerry, Cork and Tipperary Spelling Bee County champions.

The team were warmly greeted in Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh as they kicked off another week of competitions down in Tralee.  22 spellers took part in the competition to be named the Kerry County Champion.

Aisling Ni Dhubhaigh from Scoil Naomh Eoin Baiste became our Kerry County Champion for the second year in a row. Aisling loves reading and has just finished the Percy Jackson series of books. Aisling will now move on to compete in the Munster Final in May.

On March 14th our team were in Cork for our biggest competition to date this year.  We had a fantastic competition where tension was high as 58 spellers battled it out to become the champion of the Rebel County. The competition was held in Rochestown Park Hotel.

After approximately two hours we crowned Ellen Ni Chrualaioch Cork County Champion.  Ellen is an avid reader, from Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile, and has just finished all Skulduggery Pleasant books. Ellen will now go on to compete in the Munster Final in May.

For the final competition of the teams fourth week on the road they travelled to Cashel in Co.Tipperary. Here, the competition was hosted by St.John the Baptist BNS for yet another year! The standard was excellent in Tipperary and a great competition was had. 38 spellers from across the county spelt it out to become the Tipperary County Champion.

Ruby Barron from Presentation Primary School was our winning Bee. Ruby is also a big sport fan and plays camogie with Ballybacon/Grange.  Ruby will now go on to represent the county in the Munster Final in May.
