As the snow started to melt our Eason Spelling Bee Team went back on the road again to visit some more counties in Leinster. Westmeath, Kildare and Carlow were the buzzing counties for the week.  The team were really looking forward to seeing what was in store for them in these three competitions.  Check out all the details from their third week below and find out which of our super spellers were crowned Westmeath, Kildare and Carlow Spelling Bee County champions.

The team arrived back to St.Mary’s N.S., Athlone for another year on Tuesday March 6th.  25 spellers took part in the competition to spell it out to become the Westmeath champion.

Oisin Harrington from St. Tola’s N.S. became our Westmeath County Champion. Oisin loves to read and his favourite series right now is Agatha Christie. Oisin will now move on to compete in the Leinster Final in May.

Our team moved on to Crookstown, Athy.  Here, the competition was hosted in St. Laurence’s National School.  The standard here was great.  27 spellers were put to the test in front of their family/teachers and peers to become the Kildare County Champion.

Charlotte Stevens, a Rick Riordan fan, from Primrose Hill National School became the county champion.  Charlotte will now go on to compete in the Leinster Final in May.

For the team’s final competition of the week they made the journey to Bennekerry Co.Carlow.  The competition was hosted by Bennekerry N.S. There was a group of 16 spellers who battled it out against each other to become the Carlow County Champion.

This year the winner was Cian Cashman from Bennekerry N.S. Cian is a sports enthusiast and plays soccer and rugby for his local teams. Cian will now go on to represent the county in the Leinster final.
