The Manhattan Project
By new Irish author, Paul McNeive
It’s great to have the chance to tell Eason customers about my new novel, “The Manhattan Project.” It’s a thriller about one man’s race against time to save the inhabitants of New York from a plot intent on causing medical meltdown.
The plot is definitely original and it’s inspired by my own experiences with “antibiotic resistance,” since losing my legs in a fire. After successfully taking antibiotics since the 1980’s to cure skin infections, I discovered in this century that the antibiotics had stopped working. The bacteria had learned how to fight off antibiotics and had developed into the “Superbugs” which are causing so much trouble in Irish hospitals today. It was my research into all of this that inspired the plot for “The Manhattan Project.”
The action moves rapidly around New York, Japan and the Middle East. There is a Hiroshima survivor turned criminal mastermind, Pharma fat cats corrupted by big money, a Libyan fast-food entrepreneur coerced by threats to his family and a New York cop falling fast for an elusive beauty. There are terrorist “sleepers” and lots of twists and turns. Who can you trust?
The Manhattan Project is available in Eason stores from May and I look forward to meeting as many Eason customers as possible.
